Me and a couple buddies are wanting to go down to Lake Monroe and camp for a week and fish. But we want to get out away from people, and take our boat out and find an area to camp a good ways from the ramp. We will be primitive camping, just a tent. Is there any areas that we cannot camp at? Ive looked around the site and cant find any info on primitive camping around the lake. The trip wont be for a couple months. Any info would be appriceiated. Thanks.

I know DNR does have some areas that would be off limits.  However that would depend on where you are going to launch and fish if that would even become an issue.  So I would suggest contacting DNR at: (812) 837-9546 and explain to them and they should be able to assist you.  Hope you and your friends have a great time, and you enjoy yourself here at Lake Monroe.

And when the trip is over, come back here and tell us about it.

Just wanted to add that when we travel the shore line I have always noticed people with their boats close to shore and tents on the bank....I don't know if DNR approves these area's but wanted to chime in.

You want to bring DNR over to find you, have a noticeable campfire.
