Man rescued from White River in Mooresville

MOORESVILLE — An Indiana man was rescued from the West Fork of the White River in Mooresville Tuesday morning.

According to a news release from Indiana Conservation Officer public information officer Angela Goldman, Carmel resident Christopher Weiss, 21, and his friend were duck hunting along the West Fork of the White River in Mooresville around 10 a.m.

Weiss was hunting from the shoreline, shot a duck and entered the water to retrieve the duck.

He was wearing waders to keep from getting wet, however he walked out into a section of the river where the current was too swift to get back across, the release states.

Weiss held onto debris in the water to keep from washing downstream.

Weiss’s friend ran to the truck to try to find something to throw to him.

When he was unable to find something, he called 911, the release states.

Members of the Madison Township Fire Department reached Weiss with a rope and pulled him back to shore.

According to the release, Weiss was warmed back up in the ambulance and released. Indiana Conservation Officer David Reese is investigating the incident.
