We are planning to come up on Thursday, 6/12 for a weekend family get-together.  I am concerned that the lake will not be accessible due to the high water levels.  All of the lake cams show the gangways leading to the docks under water.  I usually pull a 25 foot boat up with me from Louisville, but I want to make sure the lake will be navigable and accessible.  I would hate to burn a bunch of $4+ gas for nothing.

Has anybody been out on the lake the past few days?  If so, are there any ramps open that are suitable for launching a 25-foot boat?  Are the docks available for passenger pick-up?  What about debris in the water?

Thanks for any help!

Tom I dont know about the water level this weekend...but as of today Tuesday-June 10th...it's STILL raining!! Sunday evening I was out on the water and launched at Paynetown, my boat is only 20' but there were several bigger cuddy cruisers using the ramp also. There are not any docks out but most people were using the bank to load/unload people and it is mud not rock right now.

I have a 27' cabin crusier and normally launch at Paynetown, but this year I am launching at Fourwinds ramp.  In any event, if you are launching from Paynetown and don't want to mess up your huel, have the person driving the truck drop your boat in the water, then park over by the Paynetown Marinia and then pick up your person at the docs.  I have been doing this same practice at Fourwinds, I have my wife back me into the water and then I pick her up at the gas dock.  With a larger boat or those people that don't want to pull up on shore it works great.

  Happy Boating!!!

What are the water conditions like, i.e. logs and other debris floating around that could whack a prop?  I have "logophobia" ever since I knocked an outdrive off the back of my boat on a submerged stump about 8 years ago!  Shocked

Thanks for the replies!

You have some small sticks etc in the lake, but I have not personally seen any logs or large items in the water...  now their is a report of picnic tables missing... maybe Yogi Bear and Boo Boo showed up... but guessing the high water has carried them into the water.  But as always if you are careful and watch where you are going and what is in front of you, you should be okay.
