The fish in Allen's Creek have a craving for cooked hot dogs! I know a good fisherman never tells his secrets, but I'm not a good fisherman. Threw a couple lines out Saturday evening with my sons baited with a little chunk of hot dog and within a few minutes the poles were singing. We caught a few carp over 10 pounds and a few catfish under 5. If you just want to have a little fun, and you forget your bait like I did, you still have options. We don't normally catch to eat, just for fun. I know carp aren't much of a sport fish but they were fun to catch!

Does your boat say "Brickyard 400" on the side of it?  I saw that boat on my way into Allen's Creek.  Earlier I had also seen that boat pass me on 37, and then saw it again on the side of the road with a flat.  I was in a red rinker when I came by in Allen's Creek.  I said something like, "looks like you got your flat repaired".  You would probably remember if it was you.

Been wanting to try some fishing at Monroe this year.  I was mainly thinking of fishing with minnows near the bottom, off the points in the main lake, for walleye and striper.  I always thought it would be fun to be able to hang out in Allen's Creek and catch fish at the same time though.  Cats and carp sure are fun to catch.  Were you fishing on the bottom?

Our boat is called "Liquid Therapy". It's an older Sea Ray, white with teal stripes and binimi. We don't have brickyard 400 on the boat. We do have a wing and wheel on the back. (Indianapolis Motor Speedway logo). Yes we were bottom fishing and it was at dusk. Always wanted to do some striper fishing but the main lake gets too rough for my wife. She doesn't quite have her "sea legs" yet. Let me know how you do.
