On Monday July 26, 2010 rented a 20 passenger "Party Toon" pontoon boat. The cost of the rental was $206.00 plus a $150.00 deposit. "Owen," the name of the employee working and on the contract, went through a pre-launch checklist of rules and regulations. After paying the rental I was then advised of rules that were not previously disclosed to me such as: You are not allowed to take the boat to "Allens Creek Cove" "Owen" advised that they do not allow the boats to go to that cove because the persons on the boat in the past become to intoxocated. We advised him that we have a designated boat operator. He then advised that as far as he is concerned that we paid for the boat and could take it anywhere we liked on the lake. Prior to advising us of each rule not previously disclosed he stated "I am going to ruin your day by telling you...." The company's contract states that no refunds can be provided for any reason including weather unless they can rent the boat for the same time and price to another person. We then went to Allens Creek Cove and parked the boat for the day using it as a swimming platform only.Upon return I watched as "Owen" placed $28.00 in fuel in the boat. "Owen" then added 1/2 quart of oil to the boat as well. The person at the registar advised that I owed 40.00 for fuel and oil and for the damaged prop on the rear of the boat. I advised her that the oil was an additional cost not advised to me and that we did not damage a prop. She then advised me to speak with "Owen." I then went to "Owen" who stated "Yea, you damaged the prop." He then turned around and ignored me. I asked him then to show me the prop. "Owen" then showed me the prop which had chip markes out of the metal blades. I advised "Owen" that we did not hit anything with the prop and that I had been a US Coast Guard Boat operator for five years and would know if I had hit anything. He then stated "Did you go to Allen's Creek Cove?" He then stated we are lucky because "you are only beign charged for two blades!" Which really insulted my intelligence! I then became upset as well as the other persons I was with. They advised us to pay and leave the property as it was private and they were calling the police. We were left with no choice but to pay and loose the entire 150.00 depost.

Normally, it would be annoying to see something cross posted to four areas of a forum.  This forum really needs the traffic. Where is Pleasure Craft Marina?

One lesson to be learned from this is to always inspect every portion of any boat you rent. I'd bet that the prop damage was there before you rented the boat.  You've really got to try to hit something to mess up a prop in Allen's creek cove.

I really hate to hear that you had a bad experience, period. There are always two sides to every story. I know that Pleasure Craft has their own forum but you cannot get on there unless you rent a slip there. Would be interesting to read anything on there about this.

Next time, try Fourwinds.

The days of good customer service are over, Sad most businesses including four winds are out to make every last dollar they can even if that means screwing a customer! Sad Four winds is so over priced it should be illegal but I guess that would be communism. By DNR not allowing other marinas to open on Lake Monroe is doing nothing but lining the pockets of four winds and pleaser craft with gold and allowing them to screw customers knowing they will come back because there is no competition. It is truly sad.   Embarrassed

The purpose of life’s journey is not to arrive at the grave with a well-preserved body, but rather to slide in sideways, completely used up, yelling and screaming, what a ride!
