Semi rear-ends car, killing Bloomington man
Bloomington - One person was killed and another injured in a crash involving a semi on SR 37 Friday.
State police say the semi collided with a passenger vehicle around 2 p.m. Friday on SR 37 near Wayport Road. Both vehicles were headed northbound at the time of the accident.
Investigation at the scene revealed the car began slowing to turn right into a gas station when the semi struck it from behind, sending it off the roadway and into a culvert east of the road. Police, however, do not know why the semi driver, 38-year-old Uriah Nevins of McCordsville, did not see the gold Saturn until the accident occurred.
The car's driver, 31-year-old Charles Thacker of Bloomington, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 34-year-old Cynthia Osborne, also from Bloomington, suffered a minor fracture, lacerations and severe cuts. Osborne is in stable condition at Bloomington Hospital.
Police say both occupants of the car were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Nevins was not hurt.

We drove by that accident on our way down to the lake from Indianapolis. Looked terrible.
My prayers go out to all of those involved. Sad story.
